The use of advanced version of this technology for sexual relation is not weird after all how mony women out their have vibrators and dildos.

A male version would not be assumed to be a “Gigalo Joe” but more of a kill bot. Once someone invents a new power source (and becomes super rich) along with more advanced materials technology. The army will be more intrested in uding these to hunt and kill people. Why have some slacker guarding a Top security facility when you can have robots that look human who will have no problem obeying the kill order. Similiar more primitive devices are already in use in Indonisia and are armed.

A much more “acceptable” use for such technology would be in replacement body parts for soldiers who have been wounded in wars. Have you seen the low level of such tech. A lot of people are still using hooks! and basic muscle controls. The robot parts and a suitable powersource would allow these people to be completly a Part of society with parts that look real to the touch. Rather that having to put up with parts that mark thenm out as different from the rest of the world.

What happens to 50+% of marriages out there?

How many h.s./college romances last forever, as the ‘Love Story’ movies say? Is the concept of a soulmate more or less a biochemical illusion?

You see folks, the vast majority of real adults are either divorced, widowed, or stay together for the kids a/o public perception of a happy household. I would even say that the so-called once perfect couple, portrayed in “Greg and Dharma”, are really a henpecked attorney and a free wheeling hippie. All and all, like everything else, once the kids turn 14-16, most marriages are already on the rocks.

Do some make it *work*? Sure, and for those individuals that’s great but for the rest of society, who’s struggling with alimony, housing payments, along with decreasing economic opportunities with age discrimination, offshoring, etc, perhaps a robot companion vis-a-vis lover wouldn’t be such a monstrosity? And really, the Terminator stuff is kinda out there. Ok, we’re still centuries away from anything that can evolve into a self-aware Frankenstein-like creature. These bots will follow rules based programs which will fool a vast number of people who’re not aware of adaptive programming technologies but really, it’s more about a customized user interface than anything else.
