Interesting to see how the iPhone gets received in Japan. Apple has to modify the text messaging app since the Japanese public is accustomed to using a more sophisticated client.

For those Japanese emigrating to Brazil meant a stay of about two years in the former Kobe Emigration Center located at the top of Tor Road. The center opened in 1928 and housed emigrates while they learnt Portuguese and waited for their visa’s and a place on a ship. The center operated until the mid 1970’s.
Since 2008 is the 100th year the former emigration center is being reformed into a Brazilian Japanese Emigration Museum, which will also include the Kansai Japan Brazil Association. Part of the building will be given over to the Kobe art group, CAP House. The building is due to open sometime in 2009.
